Welcome to the website of the sixth Code-based Cryptography Workshop that will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, April 5-6, 2017, organized by the Cryptology group in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Florida Atlantic University.
The goal of this two-day workshop is to bring together the community to discuss recent developments, as well as introduce the field to anyone interested in discovering more about this research area. The program includes invited talks by our plenary speakers, contributed talks by participants and dedicated discussion sessions.

Code-based Cryptography
Nearly all of current public-key cryptography is largely based on number theory problems, such as factoring or computing of discrete logarithm. These systems constitute an excellent choice in many applications, and their security is well defined and understood. All of the above, however, will be vulnerable once quantum computers of an appropriate size are available. There is then a strong need for alternative systems that would resist attackers equipped with quantum technology.
Code-based cryptography is the area of research that focuses on the study of systems based on error-correcting codes, following the seminal work of McEliece and Niederreiter in the late 1970s - early 1980s. These systems haven’t shown any vulnerabilities to quantum attackers and the area is widely regarded as one of the most promising in so-called Post Quantum Cryptography. Current efforts in code-based cryptography are directed at producing fast, secure and efficient schemes to answer NIST’s Post-Quantum Standardization call.
